Holly Preston

Holly joined CATE in 2007 as a Research Assistant working on two projects, carbon offsetting and the impacts of noise from airplanes. Since those first two projects, Holly is now a Senior Research Assistant and has worked on a variety of topics including people’s attitudes to aviation and climate change, environmental and ethical benchmarking of small businesses, noise mitigation and compensation benchmarking, carbon neutral airports, the impacts of climate change on the aviation industry, climate stabilization, and aviation’s inclusion within the European Union’s Emissions Trading Scheme.

Holly has assisted in teaching on a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the Science and Environment Department, and is involved with the coordination and administration of the Impacts and Science Group of the Committee for Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP – a sub-group of the International Civil Aviation Organization).

Prior to CATE, Holly studied a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science at the University of Southampton and an MA in Environmental Politics Keele University and is now studying part time for a PhD focussed on aviation’s inclusion with the EU ETS.
