Manchester Metropolitan University received funding to run the Omega project from January 2007 – 2009 to investigate factors associated with the sustainable development of the UK air transport sector. It established a multi-sectoral partnership of leading individuals and organizations from academia, industry, government and NGOs. Omega delivered over 40 high impact research projects and a significant number of knowledge transfer and training events designed to ensure that the output from this research fed back directly into the sustainable aviation debate.
Omega worked closely with the frontline of the aviation community – ranging from industry, to government through to NGOs to explore solutions that are practical and deliverable.
Omega has a unique opportunity to engage with representative from all aspects of the aviation-environment debate, as an independent body. It brought together parties with often divergent views to share and develop knowledge in the neutral forum.
