The Centre for Air Transport and the Environment is pleased to announce the successful award of a significant new sustainable biofuel project, a collaborative project with a total budget of 10 M Euros. ITAKA (Initiative Towards sustainable Kerosene for Aviation) is a collaborative Framework7 project, co-ordinated by SENASA, to support the development of aviation biofuels in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable manner. The project will establish relationship under guaranteed conditions between stock growers, distributors and final users.
It will look at removing barriers for the use of sustainable biofuels in aviation. The collaborative project is framed in the implementation of EU policies and contribution to short term EU Flight Path objectives of producing 2 million tonnes of biofuel for aviation by 2020.
ITAKA is part of the SET Plan initiatives to accelerate energy technologies for low carbon future.
