On March 4th 2013, CATE published a research report, “Bridging the Aviation CO2 emissions gap: why emissions trading is needed”.
The full report can be found here.
Principal investigators included:
Prof. David S. Lee, Dr Ling L. Lim and Dr Bethan Owen
It found that of the three types of measures studied; technological and operational improvements, biofuels and market-based measures (MBMs), MBMs offer the greatest mitigation potential.
Prof David Lee, giving interview to Reuters commented: “I think the simple message is that all measures are needed to reduce emissions. What we highlight is the potential gains from the MBM, which is the subject of so much political controversy at the moment.”
