Our overall modelling approach is one that is modular and ‘non black-box’. Independent, transparent, and published models are used to tackle different questions with the greatest ease of transparency and pragmatism. Linking models into a so-called ‘system’, we believe is fundamentally flawed, as such an approach eventually becomes non-transparent, computationally cumbersome and inflexible; actually requiring far more resources than if the components had remained separate and computationally more elegant.
The suite of models available at CATE is illustrated in Figure 1 and summarised in the following subsections:
