The Centre for Aviation and the Environment (CATE) was established to address the challenges of sustainable development and the environment capacity of the aviation industry through research and knowledge transfer between the academic, industry, regulatory and NGO sectors. In this regard it is unique amongst European Universities a position that is reinforced through its extensive multi-sectoral stakeholder networks and involvement.

The success of CATE is predicated on:

  • a close engagement with aviation stakeholders (academic, government, industry and NGO) which ensures that ensures that research and knowledge transfer activities are policy relevant is focussed on the direct needs of both stakeholders and is influential.
